I am up for any of the old COD games we used to play. They were fun. Hell I still miss BF2142.

Only issue is how do we play when thy have no AI? Would we run our own server? Are there servers? etc...

World At War does have AI - it's got a coop mode. Modern Warfare does not - I doubt the remastered version will when it finally becomes affordable.

Paladin wrote:Would we run our own server? Are there servers? etc...

We could. Both of those games can be hosted on private servers. Prophet and I talked about putting Modern Warfare on our server, but we never get around to it. I've been kind of avoiding multi-player gaming - I'm just not in the mood for it anymore. Some World At War coop though... :)... Rowdyrot & his buddy would play that with us so it'd be no problem getting 4 guys.

This game is awesome - I loved it. Performance is amazing, even on older hardware. They paid great tribute to the original Doom and Doom 2, while incorporating elements expected of modern FPS games. They did a great job avoid the pitfalls of DOOM 3 with this remake.

I laugh at the awful reviews of Fallout 4 - people are hating on it because they are comparing it to Fallout 3 and New Vegas. I loved New Vegas but I love this game too. Fans feel very, VERY strongly about Fallout 3 and New Vegas and Fallout 4 was a different animal. People felt violated when it was not exactly what they expected. Bethesda should consider a Fallout 3 and/or New Vegas remaster to make those people happy. I'd be happy with that too since I never got around to Fallout 3. If they remastered both games into an official "Tales of Two Wastelands" game, I think Fallout fans would empty their balls into their shorts.

I would jump on FA4 if I had time. That games takes serious commitment it seems.
Unsure you can just jump in and play it steady.. Seems to be lots of stuff to do. FA4 you need to build all kinds of shit, more sandbox game.

I think I will get Doom though as it is more linear in story as a game. Doom is just a follow the path as you go making your way through it game so I could manage that in chunks.

Doom looks fantastic, but doesn't it have some mechanic that keeps attacking you constantly and forcing you to run forward? Like, you can't clear an area, then relax? I tried playing Gauntlet, and I liked it, except in 2/3rd's of the levels, it has this destructive black cloud that follows you and makes you rush, and doesn't let you explore. I put that game away immediately when I realized that. Don't care for the forced rush thing.

Paladin, I think ANY single-player game is a waste of time and money for you, except possibly pinball. You don't want or need Fallout in any version or incarnation. I play it because it serves the same purpose that television does for you - it relaxes me and helps me forget my problems for a little while.

I wrote another post, but it got lost. Re: Pinball Arcade - get any season you don't have that's under $10. Right now, Season 4 is on sale. Might as well get the pro pack. It's not really that useful, but it's on ten cents more.

I think you have seasons 1-4. If not, you need them eventually. Season 4 is on sale for $9.89, and the pro tables pack are only a dime more, so might as well get them. At that price, season 4 is a must-buy.

Season 5 is only discounted to $19.99. I'll get that at some point when I like the price better, but the tables look good to me, for the most part. A couple are very good to great, for sure. The High Speed tables got me hooked on pinball in the first place.

Season 6 isn't on sale, and the tables don't look all that great to me.

Season 7 isn't on sale, and most of the tables for this season haven't been released or announced.

OK, I bought Empyrion, Pinball Arcade season 4 PRO tables, and a song for Rocksmith. Also, I picked up a game called DEFCON and it's soundtrack for under $2. It's a nuclear war game, and it looks like the War Room screen in War Games.

I'm THINKING about buying Black Mesa Source. It's not finished yet - the alien planet level isn't done, it's an early access game. I never liked the Xen level anyway. Also, it's been in development for about 10 years, so while it looks worlds better than the original Half-Life, it's not beautiful. I'm really tempted to get it because HL was such a fantastic game, and because it's so old now, I can't go back and play it now to save my life. With HL source, it will be possible to play it again. . . and it WAS a fantastic game. I hate paying for a game twice though.

I have some games in my cart, I included Defcon, looks interesting. I did not add the sound track one, I can get those off of you. i :) i
Since I have until July 5th I won't purchase anything just yet. Just have them in my cart for now until I decide 100% what I want.

I also added PA season 4 since I will always ad them when they hit that magic $10 range.
Wish Steam would easily display what you have and don't have. I need to search for the game then see what is listed that way. Would be easier to just look at your games.

Man we have to get those working with the second screen. I really want to get back into getting the Virtual pinball etc.. set up. along with all of the MAME stuff...

I want to start using my table/controller.

If by FA4 you mean Fallout 4 (FO4) then you've been misinformed. FO4 is 1st & foremost an FPS game. That being said, players with melee builds would argue that detail. It has elements of an RPG such as experience levels, skills & perks, but if you can handle Borderlands you could handle Fallout 4. It is in a survival setting, but you don't have to manage settlements or build anything at all if you don't want to. You can beat the main quest in the main game in a week to a month if you want to - the main quest is linear and will play that way if you focus on it. Most people spend tons of time in the game because they want to, not because they have to - that's the sign of a good game my friend! The reason I like the game is because I can start & stop as I please. If my wife yells to do the garbage or mow the lawn I can save it and quit, then pick up right where I left off later.

You are correct.

I have no idea where you heard that from, but I experienced no such game mechanics. After I cleared an area I went back to explore it to pick up left over ammo/armor and look for missed weapon/suit upgrades.

Thanks Larva, that makes DOOM more interesting to me now.

Paladin, the rollback to my April 30th image has fixed my Pinball Arcade crash problems. When I bought and installed the Season 4 tables, I tested it, and I noticed I have a shit-ton of custom balls now. I had one before, I think. Looks like they're giving you free custom balls for every table you own. I noticed I had ones with Thing, Cousin It, and Uncle Fester designs on them Fester's ball was his head with a lightbulb in his mouth :)

Kind of nice they decided to stop charging for those silly things and just give them to us.

You know what's really awesome? If you missed something in an earlier level that you find out you just got to have, instead of having to manually travel through 100 doorways to get there, you can choose to replay a level you beat as many times as you want. The enemies are repopulated when when you replay a level but as you'll find out that's something you're going to WANT the option to do. ;) You can select a perk that alerts when you are near a secret and another that shows them all on the map as soon as you start a map. I found it useful because sometimes I accidentally completed a level before going back to find something I missed. Sometimes it's just good practice to go back to an earlier level to experiment with weapons or tactics, on foes that aren't nearly as formidable as your current level. I can't say enough about DOOM. I was happily surprised they pulled it off so well.

If you're really considering it, stop listening to me and go watch some YouTube videos on it that can explain it in more detail. I found them indispensable in learning how to kill certain enemies or find elusive secret passages.

DOOM runs amazing in Vulkan! DOOM is one game engine that truly doesn't give a flying f#@4 whether you're using AMD or NVidia, single card or dual card - it just f#@ing works... flawlessly.

I want to do that too, but I just can't do that shit nowadays. Between being sick, and Mom driving me crazy, I cannot concentrate on a damn thing. I'd like to work on MAME again, but everything is so complicated anymore, and much of it has moved underground, so finding info and ROMs is that much harder. Figuring out what ROMS to get with what emulator, etc, I don't fucking know. I'd love to put together a little bar-top MAME machine, even if I can't do the virtual pinball thing. Maybe one day. . .

Thanks for the info, LARVA. Doom has looked pretty badass to me ever since it was released.
