I'll leave it to you brainiacs to decide if it's good memory or not for your purposes, but I saw this deal elsewhere and there was much enthusiasm for it.

EDIT:

Son of a bitch! It hasn't been 15 minutes, and I'm already getting this:

Thats about half what I paid for mine for half the ram, 8gbs. Its kinda slow at 1600 by today's standards. I'm not sure its good for an i5 or i7?

Also you don't want to buy Crucial on rebate, they fuck you out of it everytime, waste of time and a stamp.

I gave up on rebates more than a decade ago. They word things so that it's difficult to understand what's required of you, and even if you do submit everything perfectly, sometimes they just 'lose' your paperwork.

Now I just look for the lowest price without rebates.

Also, there was no rebate required for the original deal above for all of the 15 minutes it lasted. Just FYI.

Nowadays you can get sticks above 2000 Mhz for pretty cheap. The prices really only spike once you go above 2666 Mhz. 2666 Mhz is the sweat spot for value/performance right now. If it costs the same you might as well go faster. It future proofs you a bit and gives you a better possibility of reusing memory in a future build.

That being said, if you needed more memory as opposed to faster memory, that was an impressive deal while it lasted.

I feel the same way about rebates. It's not worth the hour it takes to clip UPCs, lick stamps, and fill out forms just for a few bucks. That being said, I do have a $100 rebate on my new MB that I'm going to have to force myself to do. Unfortunately I was in a tight bind - I needed a new system as cheaply as possible. So I went with the rebate. Hopefully I don't end up grabbing my ankles over it.
