Important resources for finding great deals

A list of places to make use of when you're serious about buying something, and you don't want to, or can't, pay more than is absolutely necessary.

CheapShark - a site that lists the best deals on computer games. Browse for the latest deals, or enter a name to find the best deal on your most-wanted game.

Is There Any Deal - lists best deals on computer games, and shows lowest historical prices.

ShuckStop - the place to look for the latest, lowest prices on shuckable external drives.

Slick Deals - Since Fat Wallet went bye-byes earlier this month, this is THE place to go to set up email and/or mobile-phone alerts. Some deals, especially Black Friday/Cyber Monday deals, cannot wait. You find out an hour late, and you're shit out of luck. Go to their Deal Alerts section, set up search words in the appropriate forums, and you will be in the know. I always set them for immediate notification - if you set it to wait for a few upvotes, etc, you could miss out. Speed is the name of the game.

Reddit's Build-A-PC-Sales - I have the NEW section load every time I run Chrome. Great deals, with great talk about the quality and price of the product relative to other items, etc. I think there's a utility to set up search and alerts for that forum a'la SlickDeals, but I can't find it now. Great resource.

JonnyGuru - Reviews and recommends POWER SUPPLIES.

PC Part Picker - Prophet approved. I honestly don't use this to it's fullest ability, but it's worth using.

FakeSpot - Cut and paste the URL of the item of your choice from Amazon.com, and it will tell you if the reviews are likely real or fake. GREAT tool, use it for important purchases!

ReviewMeta - Another site to check the validity of Amazon reviews.

Sign up for Fry's and Newegg daily updates. Fry's have coupons that apply for the next day they send out nightly. By the time you find out they have something you want, it may be too late to get the deal.

Browser Plugins:
Invisible Hand - checks the 'net to see if it can find a better price for whatever you're currently looking at on Amazon, Wal-Mart, Ebay, etc. It works.

Price Scout- Checks prices on whatever you're looking at.

Honey - Automatically finds and applys coupon codes when you shop online.

The Camelizer - Checks the price history of products on Amazon. Wonder if the price recently went up before the current sale? Wonder no more. A great tool.

More resources are coming as I remember them, and I will post them here. Suggest your favorite and I'll add it to the first post.

Thought I'd mention that I used the browser plugins to find a new computer chair. I paid less than half what Amazon was selling it for. I went to the Amazon page and looked at the chair, and one plugin went out and compared the price there with prices around the web. It found it about $120 cheaper at Office Depot. Then another plugin informed me of a "20% off one item" coupon code, so I got an additional 20% off.

Amazon's price: $289 before tax and shipping.
My price: under $140 to my door.

I added CheapShark, a PC games price aggregator, to the OP. Check this site before buying a game!

Also added: ShuckStop, a site that lists sale prices for external hard-drives that can be shucked and used internally. These are often high-quality(do your research) drives and are, importantly and oddly, cheaper than the models you can buy that are ready to use inside your computer. Shuck that case and you have a great deal on a HDD.
