I fucking had a fucking disclaimer in my fucking SIG explaining how smileys are meant to mean busting balls and I STILL FUCKING get this fucking BS of how Paladin is being a dick when he was NOT!!!!!!!
This is fucking EPIC now. Historic! I cannot fucking get this point across no matter how hard I try.... and I TRY!!!!
Ok. You've made your point about smilies. Now I'm going to make one.
Smiley's have virtually no impact on how someone else is going to interpret your comments. They are cute & that's about it. They are basically useless in serious discussions, and often in casual conversations as well. When it comes to reading, people are always going to interpret your thoughts based on your words and nothing else outside of punctuation and screaming caps.
So I wouldn't be surprised when people ignore the smilies are respond with rebuttals & counterpoints of their own, especially when it's something they feel strongly about. A smily face often implies, "I would like for you to NOT be pissed off..." but people are going to feel how they feel regardless.
To be clear, I'm not instructing you to not use smilies. It's a free country. I'm a smily whore myself, especially on Twitter where it saves me precious space. I'm just explaining why people may not be reacting the way you're expecting them to. It's just human nature.
That's really the only thing I had to get off my chest. If I didn't give a $#!^ I wouldn't have said anything at all. I like you Paladin. You're a cool, funny dude. I have fun gaming and joking with you once we actually do manage to find ourselves in the same game on the same team blowing up bad guys. I'm not sure how we manage to get distracted from what should be the core activity of our "gaming club", but we do. With less members around to distract us from ourselves, our forums aren't as fun as they used to be. I miss the days when we used to post battle strategies, organize gaming events, and discuss new content, DLCs and game patches that we were excited about. I blame real life and father time. It's decimated [CgC], as it does every single other gaming group over time. We're not immune to time or the challenges that real life poses to our members. I'll be honest, I'm not exactly sure where to go from here.
